Hey everyone! Happy Holidays 🙂

It has been super busy lately between the holiday season, training for my new job, and the ongoing house hunt. I am feeling such an intense amount of gratitude lately. We have something in the works right now regarding a house, but I don’t even want to go into detail until it’s done- since we have been in too many situations lately where we were beat out on an offer, backed out, etc. The horrors of house hunting, am I right?!

All of the Christmas things!

I am really enjoying every last second of the holiday season this year…I remember last year it didn’t feel like Christmas as much. Do you ever have a year like that?

Last weekend Frankie had off of work and we had the best holiday weekend filled with a Victorian stroll, a guided lantern tour of a historical home, and a winter bonfire with eggnog.

But my favorite part of the stroll…

Was the Christmas goat. OMG!

Later that night we headed to a guided lantern tour at a historical home…the home is that of a famous Hudson Valley painter.

Holiday parties…

We actually had 2 work holiday parties last week and I had so much fun at both!

Fun fact…I ate all 4 of these in the car on the way home. Shoutout to Frankie for picking me up so I could have a few cocktails 😛  #Ineedtogotothegym

This weekend my currently doing list includes: nothing. And it has been glorious. Today it is icing and sleeting outside and I plan on staying in and wrapping presents 🙂

Although I did make homemade pizza (mom even made the dough herself!) with mom last night. It turned out so amazing. Check out mama’s pizza recipe here!

I’m going to apologize ahead of time for the terrible quality of these phone selfies. Also don’t judge me for the bathroom selfies…the bathrooms at work have great long mirrors!

My all time favorite outfit of the month goes to this Pinstripe jumpsuit find from Forever 21…complete with my Moon and wolf sweater. I got this moon sweater from Target, although it was quite awhile ago. They still have some pretty adorable sweaters right now, especially ugly holiday ones! P.S.-I have quite a few holiday sweaters (and other holiday attire) for sale right now on my Poshmark too.

Sorry for the grainy picture…The moon sweater makes an appearance again,  this flannel is also from Target (their new brand Wild Fable that I love) and has become my favorite ever, and these hounds tooth leggings from Zara are another favorite.

All the Christmas movies!

Anything on Hallmark is good to me. Even the cheesy ones!

And…this show is hilarious and very binge worthy.

vandal.jpg

The first season follows the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left 27 faculty cars vandalized with phallic images. Senior class clown Dylan Maxwell is accused of the crime by the school. He is expelled, but an investigation into the incident is launched by sophomore Peter Maldonado, with help from his friend Sam Ecklund, to uncover whether Dylan was the one truly behind the crime.

The second season follows Peter and Sam as they investigate a new crime at a Catholic private high school after their cafeteria’s lemonade is contaminated with laxatives by someone calling themselves “The Turd Burglar”.

Guys. I am so very sorry for the lack of posts lately! Life has been nothing short of insanely busy…but in an amazing way. This month is seems especially true that life does not stop for anyone.

life.gif

This is basically me dealing with life right now.

If you follow my Instagram, you may know that I have been struggling with keeping up with it all. I wrote a post about taking a little step back from the blog briefly to re collect.  I mentioned when something that you love (like blogging) becomes an “obligation,” it can be hard to keep up with it. And I always seem to feel guilty when I don’t post every week. This blog is pretty much my baby so when I neglect it I feel that neglect strongly. BUT- self care!

House Hunting.

If you read my last Currently post you may know we have been house hunting… and if you have ever bought a house, you may know just how time consuming this process is. (But fun and an adventure, as well!)

We have seen some pretty wild stuff while hunting….

knight

……..Literally- wild.

So we went to see a home last weekend that had a neighbors chickens behind the yard. We started out by saying “awww, they have chickens-how cute!” Until we saw this turkey come out of nowhere. He was especially feeling me and ran towards me and backed me into a corner- Frankie and our realtor were in front of me blocking me. I don’t think Mr. Turkey wanted new neighbors.

Angry Turkey will keep you from selling your home

Update: We have officially put in an offer on this adorable little Cape Cod home as of today- please wish us luck and pray. I am so in love with it but also trying not to get excited as there are already multiple offers on the table.

Currently Celebrating…..Life.

Also if you saw my Instagram you may know that I wrote about my mom having a very close call on her big birthday, March 19th. They were traveling on a 3 lane highway in the left lane when ice started coming off of a truck in front of them. My mom’s boyfriend tried to move lanes, but the ice kept coming and this time in a huge chunk of at least 3 feet straight into their windshield, blowing it out completely. They drove 5 miles with no windshield in the dead of winter, covered in shards of glass, with the heat up all the way, trying to flag the truck driver to pull over as he was trying to escape! They eventually got him to pull over with the cops on their way. This driver was let off with NOT EVEN A FINE. I am still in disbelief at the complete  Thank God everyone was okay- Jon walked away with a scratch on his arm and that was it.

I can’t believe how much it’s flying by, then again, I feel like I always say that!

But really though…. when you are always busy, time flies by much faster, too.

And lately I feel like I am always grinding.  In a good way- I have been doing a lot of things to try to set up my future and just working hard in general at bettering myself.

It’s been awhile since I have written a Currently post. Looking back it’s been since October?! So here we go…

I offered to cook for Frankie for Valentines this year, but he opted that we go out. We had a wonderful night! I also got him some yummy bakery items. (which didn’t last very long)

School:

School is in full swing with my Graphic Design class. In addition to this, I am looking into applying to a Web Design & Programming degree program. (I used to sit for hours and code my Myspace layout back in the day and I loved that sh*t, so we’ll see if I love this too) I read that they do night and summer classes so am hoping to apply by the summer, take a class & see how I do/ if I like it and then go from there. I hope to do both Graphic & Web programs together. P.S. I know I am crazy.

BUT anything with web and design in my opinion is a really smart choice right now. (it will always be needed and web developers can make some really good money) And while I enjoy my job often, I am a case manager and you can’t really do that forever. I have been thinking hard and working hard on other ways to make money- even if it’s on the side for awhile until I make another profitable income from it.

Poshmark, Ebay, & Thrifting:

I have also been working really hard on my selling on Poshmark (sold 3 things so far and am almost at 3k followers- woohoo!) I sell on Ebay too! (Between both sites I have sold 4 things within the last 2 months, which I think is pretty good!) Remember my Thrift Haul & Poshmark post? I am cutting myself off from more thrifting at least until I make a marketable profit from the last thrift- which totaled $80.00.

House Hunting:

Frankie and I have been looking for a house on and off for about a year and a half. We are more serious about it now and have met with a mortgage company and will meet with the realtor next week. We have seen some houses with creepy basements (definitely on the do not want list) and we have gotten to know what we want and don’t want in a house.

house with heart

Keeping up with everything else….

I still work 40 hours a week and my job has gotten  a lot busier in the last 2 months (grateful for this though), I still go to the gym at least once a week- the past few weeks it’s been Zumba classes.  I have also been consistent the last 2 weeks with only having 1 coffee a day ( 2 on a really bad day,) drinking less alcohol/more tea, and meditating and journaling more. #Selfcare

Oh and the blog! And seeing friends when I can. Damn, that’s a lot when I really write it down..

Current Goals…

This goes along with my Currently Doing section but I have a few solid things I want to work on right now:

  • Maintain less coffee  & alcohol
  • Attend yoga 1 x a week in addition to the gym. This is harder right now with school, but just requires more planning with my homework schedule.
  • Keep meditating.
  • Work on Poshmark & Ebay for a few hours every week and up my sales.
  • Apply to Web Design program and register for a summer class.
  • Pay off debt & save money. I have been paying off my credit card bill little by little and now I just got a new medical bill.         Sigh.…adulting.

This time last year we were planning our dream trip to Santorini, Greece. I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since we went.

This year because we are house hunting and saving we may just take a trip to Florida…Frankie has never been and nana and papa have a condo there we may be able to stay at.

I have really been dreaming about going to Thailand someday.  Anyone been?

Lots of fall activities! In October, the foliage is prime and Halloween is around the corner and it’s the most wonderful time of the year.

This weekend I went to a pumpkin walk & lighting and Oktoberfest on our mountain top.  October is a really busy month but a good month with lots of fun things planned! In addition to the normal fall busyness and fun, we have wedding festivities to go this month and next month. I also have a photo shoot planned for next weekend, (1940’s pinup at a big ship museum) but I am waiting to hear back on if the location is a definite.

We are planning to do a great pumpkin blaze and a haunted house too this month and also have a Halloween party to go to! (We still have to lock down our costumes…..)

Normal life stuff….

This fall so far has been filled with good, but busy things.

I have been taking a Graphic Design class and that has been a lot of work, but fun! Even if you only take 1 class while working 40 hours a week, it’s a lot. Especially when you have Photoshop projects that take a lot of time and effort. Right now I am focusing on just taking classes and gaining skills that will help with me with my blogging and expand my opportunities for jobs. I want to continue with Graphic Design classes and also explore Web Design courses. I also want to complete the Google Digital Marketing certification, anyone done it?! (Career students, you out there, you with me) Lololol.

Life has also been really busy since we rescued Miss Molly and she came into our lives.

But oh so sweet.

This is what a happy girl who was just rescued looks like.

I swear we fall more and more in love with her every day…

Guys, I swear I have been working on my October and Halloween Happy planning.  I still only doing planning layouts when I feel up to it and think about it, I try not to stress about it at all and just have fun with it when I want to. But that will be coming soon!

Also, I am in the middle of playing Life is Strange: Before the Storm and will be blogging a review/my thoughts post on that once I am done. If you are not familiar with Life is Strange, I talked about it here. Because of our slow mountain wifi, I had to download the game at Frankie’s house ( a half hour away from me) so can only play it when I am there. So far I really love it and it is everything I thought it would be, but I haven’t gotten very far yet.

Currently in March

Listening now…

March has been a busy month! Honestly, I have been very busy lately and that is why I have not had as much time for blogging.

I did not even get to a “Currently” post in February. Check out my last Currently in January post to see what I was up to back then…

But if you live anywhere where this Nor’easter Stella storm hit, then you may be like me, and currently dealing with this…

Currently doing…

I am currently doing a million things at once right now, hence why blogging is once a week at the moment, here’s why! 🙂

ems birthday.jpg

Birthday celebrations for a friend were had this weekend!I left my house, hooray!

School:

Right now I am working towards an Animals & Public Policy certificate which is very focused on Animal law, Policies affecting animal laws, nonprofit administration, etc. I am still figuring school out but I think this is what I am really feeling- the skills needed to work in the animal nonprofit world- I hope! I am also considering a masters in Nonprofit Administration and would like to take both the certificate and classes for that, but school is a ton of work, time, money, etc. It is very hard to go back to school once you are working full time and paying loans and other bills- hoping I will figure this out slowly but surely…:)

Vacation Planning:

vaca

Frankie and I are planning a big trip (his first time out of the country) and we are seriously looking at Santorini, Greece.  Guys, I have wanted to go to Greece ever since I saw the first Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie which was filmed there. (Which was actually filmed in Santorini) We are waiting for his vacation time to be approved before we can book, but we are stoked! Has anyone reading this been? If so- recommendations?!

Awesome reasons to travel to Greece: (Based on my research)

  • Safe to travel to
  • Economically struggling at the moment, so cheaper goods
  • Exploring ruins! Right up my alley… so much history and things to learn here.
  • The scenery-the cliffs, beaches and blue water, blue rooftops in Santorini, the food, sunsets of Oia (or so I’ve read…)
  • Amazing Greek hospitality is something I have read a lot about
  • Greek food!
  • Greeks love to celebrate life

Time to start learning Greek language….

This is Us.

I promise you you will not be disappointed. Every single episode I cry. That good-hearty, damn I needed that-type of cry. I think it comes down to the show being about the core of family, love, loss, meaning of life, and purpose. It’s just so good, you have to watch it for yourself!

Currently reading…

When I do have free time, I have been reading…

I am not as obsessed with this book and have been taking longer to get through it than when I read my recent faves, “Behind Closed Doors,” “The Memory Box,” and “It Ends with Us.”

It’s good so far and follows the story of an ex couple, recently divorced, whose daughter Anna goes missing.  I have not gotten very far but it seems to shift between their lives and search for her and the kidnappers vague story of taking her…

Currently playing…

I recently picked up a Nintendo 3 ds with my Amazon gift care and Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I used to have this game and played obsessively, then sold my ds because I needed money at the time, then immediately regretted it and missed checking on my town and my villagers. (I realize I am strange, by the way) Plus there has been an update since then that allows you to scan cards into the game with certain villagers and you can ask them to move into your town.

Anyway, I have been reconnected with AC New Leaf!

For those of you who don’t know, Animal Crossing has been around for awhile. I used to play back when I had a gamecube…

It is a game where you control your town as mayor and work to make it better- creating new public works projects and ordinances and meeting and creating relationships with your villagers (who happy to be really cute animals who talk to you.)  You can work on your house-paying off your loans and decorating, earning money to do these things by catching bugs, fish, and shaking trees for fruit and selling them. The seasons change in the game too, and there are frequently events and holidays, following real world time.

Does anyone out there play?

I also want to pick up Pokemon Moon…

My new office!

Working for a nonprofit, I cannot even begin to tell you how bad our old office was…not only that, but a lot of things about it were unsafe.

We have moved offices and I can’t stress how much of an improvement this is…I feel happier and more productive already.

We have bright windows.

We have a clean office with new floors.

We have a safe space for us to work and the youth we work with to come see us now!

I am no longer embarrassed to have friends and family visit me at work. (True story.)

And…we chalkboard painted the crap out of everything.

We also got an office fishy friend named Gill.

Anyway….

I found a show to tide me over until the new season starts.

The OA on Netflix.

OA.jpg

This show is really hard to put into words, so I will let Wikipedia explain:

“The series centers on Prairie Johnson, an adopted young woman who resurfaces after having been missing for seven years. Upon her return, Johnson calls herself “The OA”, exhibits scars on her back, and can see, despite having been blind when she disappeared. The OA refuses to tell the FBI and her adoptive parents where she has been and how her eyesight was restored, and instead quickly assembles a team of five locals to whom she reveals that information, also explaining her background story. Finally, she asks for their help to save some other missing people who she claims are currently in the same situation she has described to them.”

All you have to know is that it is binge worthy and you will want to keep going and going to find out what happens…

They have foxes and squirrels on them, so of course I needed them!

I mentioned Vlogtober last year in this post. and this Mental health monthly faves post.

Here are my favorite Vlogtobers who I have been watching for a few years now!

Sarah Hawkinson:

Sarah is a favorite you tuber of mine in general because she loves Halloween just like me, she’s an introvert also like me,  and I love her style and watching her thrifting trips. She is also the reason I started shopping obsessively at Michaels for Halloween stuff, all year round.

Excited….Well guys, I landed my first sponsored post, where they are sending me $75 worth of Halloween goodies, all picked out by me, to blog about! I feel so blessed and I can’t wait to share with everyone. The fact that I got to hand pick all of the items made me feel great because I know that everything I am blogging about are products  I would obviously buy for myself!

Thinking about…And I am attending a space-themed Halloween party the weekend before Halloween and cannot decide between being Mrs. Frizzle from the Magic school bus, Buzz Light year, or Marvin the martian.  I will be making my costume and might buy a few little things for it if needed.

What do you guys think?! Help!
