Currently in April

Hard to believe it is already April. It snowed yesterday, some rain and ice mix, but overall next week the weather is looking up, yay!

Thanks sis for letting me know she had a new album. My favorite songs on the album, “The Bones” (above!), “Great ones,” “A song for everything,” and “To hell and back.” But they are all great and oh so perfect for listening with your windows down in the car when the spring weather arrives! 🙂

Girl album.png

A few reasons I love the song “The bones” so much…

We’re in the homestretch of the hard times
We took a hard left, but we’re alright
Yeah, life sure can try to put love through it, but
We built this right, so nothing’s ever gonna move it
When the bones are good, the rest don’t matter
Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter
Let it rain ’cause you and I remain the same
When there ain’t a crack in the foundation
Baby, I know any storm we’re facing
Will blow right over while we stay put
The house don’t fall when the bones are good

Frankie and I have been together a long time. It will be 10 years this December! We started dating when I was 18 (now 27) and he was 21 (now 30)

We just bought a house and it talks about the bones of a house (symbolic of their love) being so good, it won’t crack, even when life tries to test it.

This song is a reminder that when the foundation of your love and friendship is there, yes life gets hard, but it will work the way it’s meant to, as long as you both work at it.

Podcasts.

I don’t think I talked about this in my blog yet. Mostly because…. my blog has been slacking for some time. I may have mentioned that I got into listening to audiobooks recently, which I still love, but I’m not sure why it took me so long to get into podcasts!

I love podcasts about real life mysteries and murders.

Right now, I’m listening to “Cold.

Cold.jpeg

It’s a true life murder story of Susan Powell, who goes missing, and the main suspect is her very strange husband Josh Powell. I’m only on episode 6 so tbd how this turns out, but I suspect Josh is bipolar, as he frequently made binge purchases and seems to be experiencing episodes of mania at times. Josh was an extremely controlling husband and Susan even warned her co workers that if something happened to her, to “look to Josh first.”

The thing I love about this podcast is the real life clips of their actual voices, like when Susan was instructed by her lawyer to videotape her assets in their house. You can actually see the video here. She just sounds so defeated in the recording, and makes a statement of “Hope everything works out and we’re all happy and live happily ever after…as much as that’s possible.”

It’s just a very binge worthy podcast, highly recommend.

Side note: some of my other fave podcasts recently: Dr. Death, Dirty John, and Believed.

Podcasts and audiobooks are an awesome way to get through cleaning your house and chores!

House stuff. And having so much fun doing it!

I love being a homeowner and watching it grow with us. One of my favorite things about our house is we live across from a campground that has a lake so we hear a lot of geese in the early mornings (and throughout the day) and the peepers and crickets at night are amazing. So loud! Last night it was icy out and I still heard them in the distance.

We also get amazing birds and other wildlife! Yesterday I saw an entire family of Robins searching for worms after the rain for their babies.

Sunrise.jpeg

We also get some amazing sunrise and sunsets. Here you can see the lake across the way too!

Some updates…

We painted our bedroom a light very calming Sage color.

It took us so long to pick a color but I’m so glad we took our time!

We ordered a couch and a table, but they won’t be here for 6-8 weeks.

kitchen table.jpeg

We ordered this really pretty Kincaid Farmhouse table with 2 benches. It also extends to be much longer if you need it.

sofas.jpg

We ordered this La-Z-Boy grey sofa. It’s so comfy and can go with anything!

Lets stay home.jpeg

Frankie’s mama has been gracious enough to lend us her couch while we wait! We’ll need to look into a coffee table too, but for now, we have Frankie’s.

I found lights in the garden shed, never opened,  (I love free) and hung them in the kitchen and outside.

I haven’t had a lot of time lately to watch shows, but when I do, these are my favorites right now.

Just started- The OA: Part 2

The OA.jpg

I can’t tell you a lot because I just started but I did love season 1!

Northern Rescue

northern rescue.jpg

This show is actually pretty cheesy but I can’t get enough of it.

After his wife dies, search and rescue commander John West uproots his three children, moving the family from Boston to his rural hometown of Turtle Island Bay. The death affects each of their lives as John and his kids cope with their loss. Along the way, John faces situations that challenge him personally and professionally while his offspring deal with typical issues that face kids and teenagers, including school and friendships.

A lot of the reason I like this show is because they live in an aquarium and there’s a penguin that just happened to still be there named Tux.

Hey everyone! Happy Holidays 🙂

It has been super busy lately between the holiday season, training for my new job, and the ongoing house hunt. I am feeling such an intense amount of gratitude lately. We have something in the works right now regarding a house, but I don’t even want to go into detail until it’s done- since we have been in too many situations lately where we were beat out on an offer, backed out, etc. The horrors of house hunting, am I right?!

All of the Christmas things!

I am really enjoying every last second of the holiday season this year…I remember last year it didn’t feel like Christmas as much. Do you ever have a year like that?

Last weekend Frankie had off of work and we had the best holiday weekend filled with a Victorian stroll, a guided lantern tour of a historical home, and a winter bonfire with eggnog.

But my favorite part of the stroll…

Was the Christmas goat. OMG!

Later that night we headed to a guided lantern tour at a historical home…the home is that of a famous Hudson Valley painter.

Holiday parties…

We actually had 2 work holiday parties last week and I had so much fun at both!

Fun fact…I ate all 4 of these in the car on the way home. Shoutout to Frankie for picking me up so I could have a few cocktails 😛  #Ineedtogotothegym

This weekend my currently doing list includes: nothing. And it has been glorious. Today it is icing and sleeting outside and I plan on staying in and wrapping presents 🙂

Although I did make homemade pizza (mom even made the dough herself!) with mom last night. It turned out so amazing. Check out mama’s pizza recipe here!

I’m going to apologize ahead of time for the terrible quality of these phone selfies. Also don’t judge me for the bathroom selfies…the bathrooms at work have great long mirrors!

My all time favorite outfit of the month goes to this Pinstripe jumpsuit find from Forever 21…complete with my Moon and wolf sweater. I got this moon sweater from Target, although it was quite awhile ago. They still have some pretty adorable sweaters right now, especially ugly holiday ones! P.S.-I have quite a few holiday sweaters (and other holiday attire) for sale right now on my Poshmark too.

Sorry for the grainy picture…The moon sweater makes an appearance again,  this flannel is also from Target (their new brand Wild Fable that I love) and has become my favorite ever, and these hounds tooth leggings from Zara are another favorite.

All the Christmas movies!

Anything on Hallmark is good to me. Even the cheesy ones!

And…this show is hilarious and very binge worthy.

vandal.jpg

The first season follows the aftermath of a costly high school prank that left 27 faculty cars vandalized with phallic images. Senior class clown Dylan Maxwell is accused of the crime by the school. He is expelled, but an investigation into the incident is launched by sophomore Peter Maldonado, with help from his friend Sam Ecklund, to uncover whether Dylan was the one truly behind the crime.

The second season follows Peter and Sam as they investigate a new crime at a Catholic private high school after their cafeteria’s lemonade is contaminated with laxatives by someone calling themselves “The Turd Burglar”.

This Wednesday I took a half day from work and took advantage of this strange 78 degree weather we had in upstate New York this week!

First, we grabbed lunch and got gyros- which of course reminded me of Santorini, when we ate gyros every.single.day. And when life was amazing….every single day.

P.S.- I also got a haircut on this glorious day- just some short and long layers, trim, and side bang cut… but I felt like a queen the entire day after he blowdried it for me.

Weekend roundup: October and apple picking

Listening now…

I first discovered this song in October of 2009 so it always makes me think of October. I saw Phantogram live in the beginning of this year and it was one of the best concerts I have ever been to!

Not only was it the weekend but it was the first day of October, the best month ever!

We were lucky enough to go back to Greig Farm in Red Hook like last October, but this time to apple pick!

Of course it pays off to have a very supportive #bloggerboyfriend who is always willing to take photos of you for your blog.

I was wearing my new Lularoe maxi skirt today that actually has palm trees on it, but the colors are very fall and the pattern from afar looks like leaves. I was wearing this with a striped shirt, and my Mickey Mouse beanie I blogged about here.

I look like a baby in these photos (maybe it’s the braids and Mickey Mouse, haha?!) but I will forever be thankful for my baby face as it keeps me forever young.

I try to get to Woodstock as often as I can. We were just there for Frankie’s birthday this August!

My nana reached out to me asking to go to Woodstock in September, so off we went!

We started off our day viewing a Woodstock pupper in a backpack…

IMG_5001IMG_5002IMG_5003

That was quite the sight.

Nana stopped and smelled the flowers along the way quite a bit.

I got a pair of new sunglasses that I had to show off…(from Jean Turmo)

Happy May!

may

To start off the springy month, I bring you another part of my Abandons adventures series.

It was a dreary Sunday outside and the perfect day to explore around a creepy old house.

This is one of my favorite posts to do and it’s been awhile since I have done one- if you want to see my last one of the old circus train, check it out here.

So- I pass this house all the time. And as usual, I wonder it’s story and the people who occupied it.
