A fair Friday night

Listening now…

This Friday night Frankie and I went to the Dutchess County Fair, a favorite of ours for years.

I went to the fair (a different one, though) last year too, and I swear it just gets better and better. It’s just a Summer classic for me…

After all, why should any of us stop being kids?

“I thought about adults. I wondered if that was true: if they were all really children wrapped in adult bodies…”

― Neil Gaiman, The Ocean at the End of the Lane

When given the chance to pet sting rays, always do. When given the chance to be a kid again, always do. : )

Of course we had to stop and watch the dog show…

And of course tastings are always fun!

I originally wanted Frankie to take some cool photos of my outfit at the fair for this post, but before said pictures could be taken, I spilled mustard on my overalls. So here are some photos of me from the waist up, still happy though.

P.S. the fair at night is a magical place…

Hope you enjoyed! As always, thanks for reading. XOXO

Labor day ; summer roundup

Listening now…

This holiday is bittersweet for me for sure… as it is for many.

The summer is coming to an end and I can’t even believe where the time went.

This summer was great and I feel so lucky.

I got to go on vacation to both Provincetown  and camping in Ocean city and Virginia Beach.

I got to celebrate big things like my 25th birthday, as well as little things like drives, flea markets and farmers markets.

Friday night started off with a pretty pink striped sky that was so beautiful I had to capture it. So amazing to have my very own camera now!

Saturday was a quick farmer’s market morning…

I did not take many pictures here because I was holding onto the pup and mama’s abundance of vegetables and baked goods. Worth it, though.

Sunday I took the pup for a mini hike down to the falls. We checked out both the overlook part and down by the falls!

Sun orbs and fishers….

On the way back from the falls, I stumbled across a new creek that I can’t believe I never discovered before! In this picture, you can spot a girl doing a yoga pose to your left.
[I love life’s little unplanned whims]

Of course someone had to chase her ball and swim! I’m so proud of the little babe for not being afraid to try swimming in new places.

On Monday,  I had a fun day planned at the fair with my friends and I got to meet another little friend before we left! Meet this little baby, Pokey.

He was shy at first, curled up in his ball and shaking. My friend says this is the norm, but I am so happy he finally came out of his little ball to say hi!

We left Pokey and headed over to the fair…

There is just something about the fair, isn’t there?

I go every summer and this year I was afraid I was going to miss it. I went to a different fair than I normally go to, but it’s good to try new things. It was way hotter than we thought and later we said that we wished we had thought to go at night, because fairs at night are even better! But we still had a blast.

My friend and I both love cemeteries and finding new ones. Seems strange to some, maybe? My grandma used to take me for walks in cemeteries when I was younger and I was always found them peaceful and enjoyed walking around and seeing the architecture as well as reading the stones…

So on the way home from the fair, we visited a cemetery. I especially love taking la-la drives now that I have my camera.

This one was so huge we only covered maybe half of it.

What did your Labor day weekend look like?

Flea market, dog day, and drives

Listening now…

Hope everyone is having a great Tuesday and that you had a great weekend!

My love had the weekend off so we got to spend every day together.

And the other beautiful thing was that I got to take out my new Canon Rebel beauty that I talked about in my last post.

Saturday:

Saturday we took our boy to the vet…just a general check up. Everything went great and he is a healthy and happy boy!

After that, we took a la la drive….

IMG_0175_2.JPGIMG_0177_2.JPGIMG_0185_2IMG_0186_2IMG_0189_2.JPG

We then remembered that they were having Mountain Top Dog Day near us and we knew we had to go!

IMG_0210_2.JPG

They had a demonstration from the local police department of their K-9 patrol and how they train them to sniff narcotics. It was pretty cool!

We also saw a hot dog dressed as an actual hot dog in a costume…. tried to photograph from far away, but I just did not do him justice.

In addition to all of the beauty of dogs surrounding us, we had this.

Later that night, I drove past my favorite field near sunset and had my camera.

I was not originally going to pull over, but then I spotted 3 deer in the field…

I watched as they all jumped away and admired their graceful attitudes.

Sunday:

The next day, we hit up this huge flea market that I have not been to in quite a few years. As you may or may not know, I love flea markets. And farmer’s markets. Basically any markets…

I forgot how amazing it was and how many treasures you can find here…

But only 1 sad clown…

flea monkey.JPGwooden duck.JPG

Funny story about Mr. wooden duck here. I had my blogging brain turned on while taking these pictures and strolling the flea. I remembered a previous gaming post about my favorite game Gone Home that I had written- in the game, there is a wooden duck that I somehow remembered looking like this guy. When in fact, when I looked it up while writing this post, he was a Christmas duck. I’m pretty sure he was still wooden- so, close enough. Either way, he reminded me of Gone Home ; )

Frankie scored a $20 telescope!

The rest of the day….

Hope you all had a great weekend and Mother’s day if you celebrated.

Mama got a new lens! We are so excited to finally get up close to capture the full moons and other beautiful little things in life among us…after all, that’s what this blog is all about- the little things! 🙂

I’m pretty excited to keep getting out there…

A visit to the lighthouse

Listening now…

80 degrees in March today. In upstate NY.  And I couldn’t have been happier!

Last night and today I heard and saw geese flying North. Was sitting on the porch with mama the other night on our swing-it’s here!

We took a visit to the lighthouse after work

I took a lot of pictures!

03094068.JPG03094092.jpgI had my handsome man along with me, who loved being photographed every step along the way. [sarcasm.]

Of course, it was handy to have him there as my photographer, too. I was so happy it was unusually warm out that I got to wear the dress I got in my last thrift haul!

Adventures of Abandons: Part 3

music note Listening now…

[You guys know I love American Horror story!]
I hope you are having a great weekend! I’m going to be honest, I have barely left my house because it has been below 10 degrees all weekend!

Here’s part 3 of my abandons posts -[Abandons posts]

I only left the house once yesterday with my pup and bundled her up in her jacket to go for a ride to photograph an old train I pass frequently, but have just never had my good camera with me.

This is the old version of the Catskill Mountain Railroad.

For some reason, it has a circus feel to me, which I love even more.

train 1.jpg

train 8 inside.jpg

You can see a crack in the window right near a windshield wiper and the controls that used to move the train…

train 2train 6train 4.jpg

We didn’t get too close to the longer section of the train- because there was a private property sign up and the train was not far from the road at all.
