Letters to the Universe { June }

Listening now…

I thought it was time for another Letters to the Universe post.

The universe has been very good to me lately. So I wanted to send out some letters and talk to it a bit.

Dear June, Thank you for the good and bad you brought me this month. June will always be the month papa passed away but it is also the month that papa came back as yellow butterflies surrounding us. (Seriously– they have been everywhere and I even found 2 beautiful yellow butterfly wings on the floor yesterday.) I find comfort knowing that not only is he breathing better than ever up there, but he is flying over us in protection and freedom. Mom had finished off papa’s garden that day and I think that was a sign that he knew we were honoring him.

Dear July, How the hell did we get here? That means more than half our year is over already.  Is it true that the older you get the quicker the years pass by? Because I feel it already. Please slow down.

Dear timing,  I’m beginning to see why you do things in the order that you do. I feel like it is all lining up the way it is meant to and I thank you for being patient with me and teaching me that same patience.

Dear self, you are going through some big life changes right now and big opportunities (more on that later) This is something you have wished and worked hard for for a long time- work hard, but take care of yourself, and embrace every second of it. And it’s okay to have some fear- as long as you use it as motivation. I commend you for getting outside of your comfort zone over and over again even though it is really hard for you. You know you cannot grow in the same place.

Dear mind, stop thinking so much. If just for a minute. Or enough for me to sleep well again!  As Frankie says, “worrying is like a rocking chair- it gives you something to do but won’t get you anywhere.”

Dear Advil PM, thank you for being there for nights when I absolutely cannot take another night of not sleeping. (Not usually- but lately)  I know that’s not what you are there for, but I’m so happy to have you.

Dear my bullet journal,  thank you for being there for me when I need to organize my days and months and years. And my thoughts. Thank you for allowing me to create more mindfulness in my life.

Dear Molly, please stop hoarding my underwear in your bed when I am away and you miss me. It’s getting really weird and awkward…. but thanks for being my little weirdo with your quirky quirks- I feel you are the dog version of me. (Besides the weird underwear thing)

Dear summer and your little moments, you really snuck up on me this year but I especially love your night sounds, twinkly outside lights, and light bugs. In addition I really adore your swaying nighttime breezes, your hot and heavy sunshine basking onto my face at the lake, and your ability to really bring people together.

Dear Universe, We have a lot going on right now. But with the ups come the downs and without both, we may not know the beauty of the other. This balance is sometimes tough, but so needed in order to really truly appreciate life and all it’s craziness.

XOXOX

A fair Friday night

Listening now…

This Friday night Frankie and I went to the Dutchess County Fair, a favorite of ours for years.

I went to the fair (a different one, though) last year too, and I swear it just gets better and better. It’s just a Summer classic for me…

After all, why should any of us stop being kids?

“I thought about adults. I wondered if that was true: if they were all really children wrapped in adult bodies…”

― Neil Gaiman, The Ocean at the End of the Lane

When given the chance to pet sting rays, always do. When given the chance to be a kid again, always do. : )

Of course we had to stop and watch the dog show…

And of course tastings are always fun!

I originally wanted Frankie to take some cool photos of my outfit at the fair for this post, but before said pictures could be taken, I spilled mustard on my overalls. So here are some photos of me from the waist up, still happy though.

P.S. the fair at night is a magical place…

Hope you enjoyed! As always, thanks for reading. XOXO

August Favorites

Listening now…

Glass Animals is in the soundtrack for Atypical a lot and I started to really love them!

But how the hell is it August already? P.S. as much as I love fall, I am not ready yet!

Atypical on Netflix:

Mama and I started watching Atypical on Netflix and loved it, we finished the season in a few days. There are not that many episodes, but they did leave the last one on a cliff hanger so I am thinking there is definitely going to be another season!

The show is about Sam, an Autistic teenager, and his family. Sam loves penguins and wants to fall in love. He is hilarious and the show does a really amazing job of making you feel his emotions and struggle to understand things that many of us take for granted. Things like being able to recognize other people’s emotions and how your words affect them. Things like being able to be in a room with loud music and lots of lights without having to run out covering your ears. Things like being able to form normal relationships. What is normal anyway, am I right?

I highly recommend this show to anyone! You will feel a lot when you watch it and you will laugh a lot, too.

Also, the soundtrack is really awesome too! See above  : )

Enjoying the last days of the summer…

While also getting excited for fall…

I’m not ready yet. I don’t know how or why the winter lasts so long, while summer flies by. It did feel like summer started a bit earlier for us, though, since we went to Greece in May. The weather over there felt like it was in the 80s because of the strong sun and having that trip of a life time made this summer one I will never forget.

At a certain point in August I am usually ready for fall. This year I am not there yet….but it’s okay. When I start to think about it we have a lot to look forward to! Like the new Stranger Things season and all the other wonderful aspects of fall. But that’s another post!

New games.

I don’t game a lot at all in the summer, I am outside enjoying the weather! Something I do enjoy about it getting colder is that you have more inside time to enjoy your inside hobbies. One of those for me is gaming! After all, that’s why I have a Gaming section on my blog.

August has brought a few really great changes to the gaming world! (At least for me, hehe)

August 31st I will be playing Life is Strange 2: Before the Storm.

strange.jpg

Life is Strange is the game( along with Gone Home)  that made me really love interactive story exploration type games. I can’t wait!

Yesterday, they finally released that Sims 4 Cats and Dogs is coming out in November! November 10th, to be exact. If you are a Sims fan, this has been a long time coming!

The thing I am most excited for is that you can open your own Veterinary clinic! I cannot wait.

My skin care routine.

Thanks mom for reminding me of how important it is to keep your skin healthy- I often get lazy and manage to skip washing my makeup off. Bad, I know!

But my mom got me this miracle Garnier cleansing water, which is so gentle and easy to wash it all off.

garnier.jpg

I love it! Along with these new BB creams she got me from Sephora, my skin has been looking and feeling nice lately.  I like BB cream because it has everything in 1- a little bit of color, makeup, and sunscreen. I started using it because my skin was too dry to wear makeup and it really helps. Each one has a different purpose for the skin and so far my favorite is the  “Complex pore care.”

How has your August been? Are you ready for fall?!

Weekend Roundup

Listening now…

Friday night Frankie and I went to a summer concert series on the water and one of our favorite bars that has a corn hole and a fire pit. There were two separate concerts- this one down below and a Pink Floyd tribute band that was also really good!

I love this bar because you feel like you are sitting under a huge willow tree, which reminds me of my childhood. My nana’s yard had this huge willow tree we used to climb all day in the summer! Between this, the fire pit, and the lights lighting the path it has a really cozy feel to it.

Saturday I went to a wine, chocolate, and strawberries festival with my friends- a girl’s dream come true! #Hudsonvalleywinery

If you want to check them out- this is them!

I ended up buying the Spiced apple wine which is amazing and will be wonderful in fall warmed up!

What Summer brings

Listening now….

Last night: the Summer Solstice, the strawberry moon, the longest day of the year. A new beginning…

“The day marks the ancient middle of summer, even though we haven’t had the hottest day.

It has significance for pagans who have always believed that midsummer day holds a special power. Midsummer’s eve was believed to be a time when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest, and when fairies were thought to be at their most powerful.” Via: Link

“For the first time since 1967 the summer solstice coincided with a rare ‘strawberry’ moon and the 17 hours of sunlight gave way to a bright moonlit sky in many parts of the country.

Despite the name, the moon does not appear pink or red, although it may glow a warm amber. The romantic label was coined by the Algonquin tribes of North America who believed June’s full moon signalled the beginning of the strawberry picking season.”

What do you wish to manifest for yourself this summer?

The summer flies by!    Let’s make the best of it 🙂

Spring and Summer wish list

Listening now…

Awhile back, on a dreary winter day, I was dreaming of spring….

And now it seems it is here to stay, it’s almost May, and I could not be happier.

I was an August baby, so I think my heart loves and belongs in the sunshine.

I wanted to update the Spring wish list I made a little while back. As I go, I will check items off and make an updated post when I acquire some of these items and will post photos of a haul. After all, I love me some hauls.

I have already started my Spring shopping and purchased a few items like striped jeans, cardigans, and boy short bikini bottoms-which I have been wanting for a few summers!

But I keep thinking of or seeing more and more things I have to have…

Here is my updated Spring and Summer wishlist:

   Shoes of all kinds…

I am a fan of sneakers right now. Been wearing my low top white converse a lot, my Vans, and Keds.

Hence, I would like some more…

Sneakers:

Espadrilles:

TUKS:

I feel like you either love or hate these shoes. I love them and have been lusting over them for awhile now. I have been loving the 90’s style lately and these platform shoes are no exception. Yeah….I need them…

 Matching sets:

Yes please.

Chokers:

I couldn’t be more happy that these came back into style. I have enjoyed layering necklaces with a choker lately.

I love the versatility of them!

T Shirt Dress:

Tropical prints:

Summer floats:

….But do you see these!

I spend almost every day at the lake during the summer. It’s my second home, I bring my pup, throw her ball so she can swim, and bask in the sun while reading a book and listening to whatever lake playlist I have at the time.

I spent last summer lusting after Taylor’s magical swan float. Not again this year, guys!

What are you lusting after this spring and summer?
